Feng Shui Audit

A Classical Feng Shui consultation is called an audit.  The name for the consultation is your first clue of what to expect.  An audit is a mathematical analysis of your property based on the exact degree your property faces, and the time you moved in.  You are personally a part of the analysis based on your Gua number, which is determined by your birthday.  That information gives you exactly what is affecting the house – at a specific location, at a specific time, and how each person will be affected differently. Literally, there is no life experience, regardless of how small, or how significant, that is not a reflection of the patterns of energy surrounding you at any given moment.

There is no other system in the world that gives you data this specific and personal, not to mention,  tools to change those influences.

The audit is quite comprehensive, and will include both the outside and inside, with much attention given to the outside.  Most critical is personal locations – where you sleep, and work.  Cures recommended will be both permanent, and for the current year.  You will also be given a personal analysis of how this property is affecting you, including personalized cures, and what you can do about these strong patterns affecting you.  Both opportunities and risks will be addressed – for your life, and in your house.

All of the above is personalized and customized by Karen – no cookie cutter information, no computer programs.

The Audit Process

On-Site Audit is when I am on-site at any location.

Required Information from you:

  • To-scale floor plan – If you do not have one, you will have to draw one.  If you have no drafting or computer skills, the simplest way to draw a floor plan is with a pad of grid paper.  For a to-scale floor plan, walk from one side of the building to the other side, counting your steps.  For example, if the building is 52 steps wide, count 52 squares and mark those points on the grid.  If the mark goes close to the edge of the grid paper, half the number, as in 52,  ½ would be 26 squares instead.  Do the same, counting your steps, from the front to the back of the building.  Do the same for each room.  Clearly mark the door openings.  Door location is important.  This will give you a to-scale floor plan.  If you prefer to measure the building, that is, of course, fine.
  • Accurate floor plan – If you have a builder’s plan, or apartment plan, be sure the plan you have matches your house or apartment.  If the plan is flipped, or opposite your property, I cannot work with it.  Go to an office supply, and ask them to flip the plan, so that it will match your floor plan.  To be clear, a flipped plan is when the plan shows, for example, the dining room on the right, but in your house the dining room is on the left.
  • Move in date
  • Birthdays of everyone in house – identify bedroom and bed location of each person
  • Your goals, if any, for the audit, or any major history in the house.  Be brief.

Schedule about 3 hours for the audit.

Remote Off-Site Audit is any location where I am not physically present.  The quality of the audit will depend on the quality of the information I receive from you.  If I is not on-site, you become responsible for providing much more information, so that I can provide you with an accurate analysis.

Flying me to your location is by far the strongest choice. If flying me to your location is not an option for you, then you can still have a remote audit. You should provide the following information:

  • All basic, required information listed under On-Site audit.
  • Photographs of each direction of the property, looking from the house out - 8 photos – front, back, sides, corners.  Identify the location, ex. “from front of house”, “from front right corner”.  Email to xxxxx  xx
  • Photographs of each direction of the property, facing the house from the outside, looking toward the house at a distance 8 photos – front, back sides, corners.   Email to  xxxxx
  • The exact degree the house faces.  You will have to use a proper compass, and learn how to use it.  The following information will walk you through how to take a proper reading this step by step.

Finding Accurate Directions with a Compass

Since most Feng Shui systems are based on magnetic direction, you must use a proper compass to ensure that you have accurate directional information.  If you are uncomfortable or unfamiliar with working with a compass, simply follow these guidelines.

I strongly recommend you use a compass similar to the one illustrated.  The compass should have 2 features:

  • A flat base plate with ruler edge
  • A movable degree ring to set North

To find the accurate facing direction of a door, house, or anything else, take the following steps:

Getting Set Up to Take the Reading

Stand just off the front porch, facing the door.  Be sure you are outside the door and porch energy.

Line up so that you are parallel to the door, or porch step, still facing the house

Turn the degree ring dial until the orienting arrow lines up with the magnetic arrow with red North. That direction will be due north.  Walk back a few steps and forward a few steps until the needle stabilizes.

You are now lined up with the house and ready to take the reading.

Taking the reading

1.  Turn around facing the street with your back to the house.  The compass needle will flip.

2.  Reset north.

3. Look at the flat ruler edge of the compass.

4.  Follow the line of the arrow from the flat ruler edge to the dial you used to set north.

5.  The arrow will point to a number or slash mark between numbers.  Count the slashes between the numbers to determine the degree of the front door, or any other location.

6.  The “Directional Degrees” chart gives you the directional perimeters.

Directional Degrees

South 157.6 to 202.5 North 337.6 to 22.5

Southwest       202.6 to 247.5 Northeast 22.6 to 67.5

West 247.6 to 292.5 East 67.6 to 112.5

Northwest 292.6 to 337.5 Southeast 112.6 to 157.5

Remote Off-Site Audit Continued

If you have no clue what your property faces, Google the address and look at the map for a general reference.

If you have any concerns about the accuracy of your reading, we can set up a phone conversation so that I can walk you through getting a correct reading while you are doing it.  Everything depends on this exact degree.

Once I have all  your required information, I will run formulas, analyze the property, and place a grid with numbers on the floor plan, with a copy returned to you

A phone appointment will be set up for the audit.  Have your marked copy of  the floor plan in hand.

Schedule 3 hours for the audit.

Fees

Fees are set based on size of property and number of people.  For a quote, please email karen@fengshuibeyondthemyth.com. Please include approximate property size and number of people included.
